The tiger stripe rod above and below makes a good choice for blending flaming with the blonde color.

Some folks like flamed rods with blued hardware. Flaming can be dark as shown below, medium, light or variegated.

Burgundy silk wraps with a blend of flaming and a cocobolo reel seat below have a bold appeal

The 3 piece travel rod below can be placed into a 30" tube for backpacking or travel. The second ferrule has little distraction from the action on this particular rod. It will cast a dry fly with acute accuracy
and will throw weighted nymphs as well. it is a 7'2" 4 wt and will handle large trout. This is a note to me from the fellow who purchased this rod

Scott,
I fished the rod you made me today. I have the honor of telling you it is about the most accurate bamboo I have ever cast and I have cast many of them. This rod is so good with the point and delivery of the fly that I cast under trees where I have lost lots of flies and lost only two today. It is like using a blow gun to deliver a dart. I am really impressed and so was the angler fishing with me. You did well,
Jay

This color combination is especially favored by women fly fishers

A Delicate Fly Rod For Small Streams

 "The Bucko Special"

I made this rod for a customer in New Jersey who wanted a delicate rod to fish the small eastern streams. He wanted a rod that would cast a 9 or 10 foot leader using only 2 to 4 feet of fly line. The rod also has the punch to send the line out there up to 50 feet. The rod is a 6’6” 3 wt. and I named it after David since he inspired me to make it. It weighs two and one half ounces and is a little gem. It has a smallish cork handle and blends into a dark cork reel seat with a zebrawood mushroom end and nickel silver butt cap. This rod is designed for the fisherman who loves to fish small streams.

Scott,

Your new design rod “The Bucko Special” was used on the Big Flat Brook this week. The performance was outstanding! The rod performance was what your entire rod does well and that is cast with little effort and turned over the line and leader each and every time.

Keep in touch and tight lines!!!

New........" The Sawtooth Edition"

I offer this fine bamboo fly rod for those on a budget who can not justify paying  $850, $1000 or more to enter the wonderful world of fishing bamboo. These rods are hand planed by me out of the finest Tonkin cane and have nickel silver ferrules. These are not Chinese blanks. They come in a variety of lengths and weights. These blanks I produce with the same care as I give to my primary line of rods.
These rods are two piece one tip rods. The finish is a combination tung oil and polymer. The wraps are done in silk and finished with a fine epoxy. The rods sell for $650.00 plus shipping and insurance. $600.00 without tube and sock. The lower cost is acheived by using a faster method of coating the wraps and a faster process on the final finish using tung oil. This process eliminates three full days in the building process.

Elegance Through Simplicity

It is paramount to me that I satisfy your needs. Only in rare circumstances do I sell from ex
isting inventory, which,by the way is usually non existent.

I prefer to meet with you in person so that you have the opportunity to cast several of my rods in order that you can choose the one that best suits your
fishing personality. I will instruct you on the techniques that I use to get the best results from my bamboo rods. This will include line selection and time on the water, if you desire.

I want you to be as satisfied as I am when I fish bamboo. The experience using my bamboo fly rods is extrordinary to say the least. This
includes the castability and the difference vs. graphite while playing a fish. I ,without exception, have yet not to see a smile on the face of anyone who has casted one of my rods.

I use the finest Tonkin cane from The Charles Demarest Company. I hand plane all rods. I use the finest nickel silver fittings available and
naturally, silk wraps. I can work with you on the cosmetics such as blond, flamed, or an appealing blend of blond and flaming. Colors of your wraps, real seat configuration and hardwood used, will be discussed.

There are over 1500 steps in the bamboo rod building process and there are no shortcuts. I assure you that since a handcrafted bamboo
fly rod takes up to 80 hours to produce, that this is not a craft for the faint of heart nor is it one for an individual who is trying to make a significant amount of money. I am retired, and simply have a passion for the craft. I love to see the satisfaction on a customer's face when he fishes one of my rods and he always says " Why didn't I try this sooner" I would prefer to call one of my rods a fishing instrument that just is a hell of a lot of fun to use. If you love to fly fish as I do, why not discover the friendly bamboo. The truly elite fly fisherman always choose bamboo.

I have spent countless hours researching bamboo fly rods.  I have always favored the Leonard rods, but wanted something better. I have incorporated the "swelled butt" into my family of rods. Not only does this technique speed up the rod's action, but it dramatically enhances the rod's appearence. It could be likened to an Italian race car's pleasing design. My rods span lengths from 6'3" up to 8'0". I also am fond of a steelhead rod I make in an
8'9"configuration. After crafting many numbers of rods I came up with one which I was especially fond of. Consequently, I spent a great deal of time generating computer models which would duplicate the casting characteristics of this rod. The computer program allowed me to duplicate these characteristics in rods of different weights and lengths. The results were incredibly pleasing.

Unlike many builders, my
delivery time on a custom rod is relatively short. I stop taking orders when the waiting time for a rod is ludicrous, i.e. 2 to 5 years. My price range is very reasonable since I don't create museum pieces with engraving, etc., which usually translates into the customer being fearful about fishing the rod. I don't want that, nor should you. I don't want to bring along a velvet cushion to place on the ground while I string up my rod. After all, this is all about fun, not fear!

Price ranges are from $850.00 (rods with one tip) to $1000.00 (rods with two matched tips) with the exception of negotiated cosmetic extras.

A beautiful Landmark case with solid brass end caps can be provided at a nominal cost. Hand sewn rod sock with tag, provided.

Isn't it time to begin a new stage in your angling life? I would enjoy discussing and demonstrating bamboo fly rods with you. I assure you that you will not want to put the rod down once you start casting it.

THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE WHEN FISHING A BAMBOO ROD, BELIEVE ME
